Mike E. has been a math educator for 20 years and a professional math and test prep tutor for 10 years. He holds a BA in Mathematics from Harvard University and an MAT in Mathematics Education from Boston University. During his career, he has been a high school math teacher in multiple settings, an adjunct math professor, and is now a full-time math and test prep tutor. Mike believes firmly that every student can improve their skills and confidence in math with the right guidance. His philosophy as a math tutor is to work with his students to identify specific difficulties and improve understanding of the math they are studying, so that they can solve the problems they need to solve, understand the processes involved, improve their grades, and meet any other goals they have in their math studies. As a test prep tutor, Mike also subscribes to the “practice makes progress” approach, with the understanding that standardized tests require a specific and targeted approach. In all his tutoring, Mike is dedicated to connecting with his students and building trust. He is warm, empathic and personable and as such has developed long-standing relationships with many students throughout his career. In his spare time, Mike is an accomplished experimental electronic musician and radio DJ, and has been creating, performing, discovering and presenting new sounds to a wide variety of audiences for decades~
